Join Grand Tour Aragón 2026 (2-9 September)

Grand Tour is a travelling artistic expedition on foot, organized by our partner Contemporary Art Center Nau Côclea, that brings together walking, contemporary artistic practice, cultural exchange and direct experience of the landscapes and communities. WAC Online Workshops (19 & 26 September, 3 & 10 October)

The largest online course on Walking Art runs between March and October 2026. The first batch of attendees has already created a vibrant walking community and we are now re-opening the applications for the next sessions.

The course continues into the Project Lab & Living Archive workshops, cheduled from September 19 to October 10, focusing on:

• Collaborative Mapping
• The Collective Digital Body
• Walking & Locative Media
• Walking & Ecological Intelligence

WAP26 (Walking as Practice, 2026) – Apply by July 14

 

The WAP26 program turned nomadic as we walk the Stockholm Archipelago. This time we walk with the collective in addition we open up 2-4 positions for artists that we don’t already know and three by invitation. We spend 5 nights in tent out in the archipelago and 4-5 at your select accommodation in Stockholm.

WAP26 takes place August 5-14 (including arrival/departure day). Read more. 

WAP26 frames walking towards political aesthetics, incorporating approaches of entanglement, proximity and co-becoming. Walking as Social Imagination as a way of being with the landscape, nature and each others practices. As a part of the program, we want to walk in the imaginary footsteps of the writer, painter and filmmaker Peter Weiss and his book “From Island to Island”. In Weiss’s work, walking becomes a means of understanding and interpreting the world. Other literature and influences are also welcome to contribute. Dissemination of the program will be held as a two day public event in Stockholm with exhibition of wip, walks and talks.

PARKLIFE: Call for Audio (The ReRouting Project) – Apply by July 15

What is Parklife where you are?
Call for audio to co-create a radio piece for Whitechapel Gallery Radio station as part of their inaugural Backyard Biennale 2026. Walk the local space you consider a park and record a sound-clip, or send a sound towards what a park could or should be. If there are no parks in your current reality, capture that. Recall a memory of a park from your past or elsewhere. Submit here. 

 

Artistic Residencies 

We invite expressions of interest from artists and creative practitioners whose work centers around walking. Residencies are available in Greece, Spain, Portugal, France, and Belgium.

About the Program

A selection of works from these residencies will be featured in a large  exhibition on walking arts at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Thessaloniki, Greece in 2027.

Each residency provides the artist with a fee, accommodation, and travel support.

Artists may apply for one or more residencies.

 

Eligibility

Open to artists and creative practitioners based in the EU or Creative Europe eligible countries. (See the full list here.)

The Walking Body (Portugal), hosted by Lab2PT, University of Minho

Location: Guimarães, Portugal

Duration: 1 week (Spring)

Participants: 2 artists per year

Each spring, two artists are invited for a one-week residency in Guimarães, engaging with local residents and students. Through collaborative workshops and participatory walking activities, artists explore the urban and suburban landscapes. The residency culminates in an open laboratory-exhibition at Garagem Avenida, the art gallery of the School of Arts of Guimarães.

Grand Tour (Catalonia, Spain), hosted by Nau Côclea

Location: Catalonia, Spain

Duration: 3 weeks (August)

Participants: 1 artist per year

Every August, one artist is invited to join a three-week group walk covering approximately 300 km across Catalonia. Participants walk around 15 km per day, focusing on small villages and sparsely populated areas. Rather than presenting a finished work, the artist engages in a shared creative process with villagers and fellow walkers, fostering a collective artistic space.

Migrating Voices (Villefagnan, France), hosted by Gigacircus

Location: Villefagnan, France

Duration: 5 days (twice per year)

Participants: 2 refugee artists (twice)  per year

Twice a year, two refugee artists are invited for a 5-day residency in Villefagnan. This residency is specifically for artists who have been forced to flee their country because of persecution, war or violence. Through walking, sound, music, and multimedia, the artists will contribute to a collaborative creative process and performative laboratory in Villefagnan, leading to an interactive live sound and multimedia installation—where refugee artists worldwide walk and create together.

Duration: 10 days (2026)

Participants: 4 artists

Prespa Residency & Encounters

Visual March to Prespa.

2 artists 15 days in run up and during Prespa Encounters 2025 and 2027 

The main encounters in Prespa, Greece, include a residency leading up to and overlapping with the international walking arts encounters. Selected artists will have the opportunity to develop a larger project in Prespa.
